Loughgall lifted the Ivan Marshall Memorial Trophy defeating a spirited Coagh United outfit on penalties.  Finishing 2 – 2 at the end of 90 minutes, both sides couldn’t be separated after a further 20 minutes of extra time.  Marc Robinson saved the first two Coagh penalties to give Loughgall the advantage and it was Andy Brown who fired the decisive penalty beyond stand-in ‘keeper Wayne Brown, after Johnny Pollock was earlier forced off with a head injury.
An even start to the game presented few opportunities until the 14th minute when Alan Murphy’s forward ball was volleyed towards goal by Dean Smith which was pushed past the post by ‘keeper Pollock.  From the resultant corner Dean Smith knocked the ball home at the front post.
5 minutes later the hosts nearly extended their lead when Paul Baron’s through-ball into Ryan Moffatt’s path allowed the winger to steady himself before forcing Pollock into a smart low save.
Coagh levelled the scoreline on 25 minutes when a cross into the penalty area was headed out to the edge where ex-Loughgall player Johnny Porter excellently half-volleyed low into the bottom corner giving goalkeeper Robinson no chance.
United took the lead in the 34th minute when William Ferguson’s good delivery from a corner was powerfully headed into the back of the net by striker Keegan Smith.
9 minutes after the break Loughgall almost equalised when Moffatt nodded Andy Smith’s floated cross onto the crossbar and Dean Smith was quickest to react however he couldn’t keep his header, from close range, on target.  The Villagers grabbed the equaliser on 68 minutes and it was substitute Andy Brown who lost his marker to head Moffatt’s corner home at the front post.
1 minute later Brown had an excellent chance to score again when he raced down on goal from a narrow angle and saw his low shot well saved.
5 minutes before full time Scott McCordick’s great run almost ended with a goal when he tested ‘keeper Robinson with a strong drive.
Loughgall hit the woodwork on 88 minutes when Lukasz Adamczyk shot through a crowd which deflected the ball onto the post before being cleared to safety.
The closest either side came to scoring in extra-time was when Coagh substitutes Gary Crooks and Gareth McCaw combined to allow the latter to narrowly strike over the crossbar.
