Loughgall 2 - 1 Bangor
An exciting tie at Clandeboye Park between First Division heavyweights Bangor and Loughgall saw the Villagers return to winning ways to progress to the semi final stage of the WKD Intermediate Cup. Loughgall had man of the match Lukasz Adamczyk to thank as he popped up with an injury time winner. The striker bundled the ball home from two yards to cap a tremendous second half performance from the away side.
It was Adamczyk who could have opened the scoring only 5 minutes into the game when strike partner Dean Smith did well holding the ball up before passing to Adamczyk who shot just wide.
On 10 minutes Ryan Moffatt did well to curl his free kick up and over the Bangor wall, however the effort was slightly wide of the target.
One minute later Bangor ‘keeper Ryan Brown (1) failed to deal with Noel Robinson’s lofted cross however Adamczyk couldn’t capitalise, sending his header over the crossbar.
The Seasiders broke the deadlock when James Bell’s cross-field ball was superbly headed past ‘keeper Marc Robinson and into the top corner of the net. The remaining minutes of the first half produced no clear-cut chances with both defences well on top.
The second period was a more open affair with Loughgall starting to influence the game more, creating good opportunities. Four minutes into the second half and Adamczyk was released clear towards goal only for ex-Loughgall defender Paul Harbinson to put in a well-timed challenge to save a certain goal. On 53 minutes the Villagers missed a great chance to level terms when Alan Murphy’s long ball was missed by ‘keeper Brown (1), however Noel Robinson snatched at the half volley under pressure from Carl Rezai and his effort sailed over the crossbar.
After 56 minutes Bangor striker Tony Smith played across to Goalscorer Forsythe however the tricky winger failed to beat Robinson with a fierce drive from inside the penalty area.
Loughgall grabbed an equaliser on 57 minutes when Dean Smith played across the 18 yard line to Moffatt and the winger composed himself to finish inside the post low to ‘keeper Brown’s (1) left.
On 70 minutes ‘keeper Robinson easily collected Bangor striker Andy Morrow’s poor connection to Tony Smith’s low cross. After 76 minutes Adamczyk controlled Moffatt’s free kick and quickly shot to produce a great point blank save by Brown (1).
With 3 minutes remaining Bangor defender Harbinson should have done better with Dom Mellys curling corner as he headed over from close range.
With the game looking like it would be destined for extra time Moffatt squared the ball into the penalty area and after a scramble the ball crossed the line thanks to Adamczyk’s touch. The Polish striker indeed could have killed the game off when a breakaway released him clear, however, ‘keeper Brown (1) did excellently to come off his line and save Adamczyk’s low effort.
