Loughgall warmed up for their tie with East Fife defeating Mid – Ulster Intermediate A outfit Hanover 5 – 0 at Loughgall Country Park.
A total of 18 players were each given time to impress manager Niall Currie and the game also marked new recruits Davy Hawthorne and Ally Evans first outings.  Also playing were trialists Andy Moore and Johnny Walker, while Glenn Clarke, a youth graduate, caused problems for the Portadown based side.
It only took 4 minutes for the Villagers to find the net, when Scott Walker’s clean strike wriggled under the ‘keepers body and Andy Brown tapped home on the goal line.  The lead was doubled on 20 minutes when Brown intelligently headed across goal to Ryan Moffatt who had the simple task of nodding in at the back post.
20 minutes into the second half, Andy Smith played a delightful chipped ball which set up perfectly for Paul Baron to volley home from 15 yards.  Davy Hawthorne scored his first goal in Loughgall colours in the 73rd minute when Ryan Moffatt’s byline pull back was collected by Dean Smith, who layed off to Hawthorne who slotted home from close range.  Moffatt ran through the Hanover defence on 77 minutes however he couldn’t find a way past the goalkeeper who superbly saved low down to his left.  With 2 minutes remaining Baron’s low cross from the right wing was converted at the near post by Dean Smith to make it five.
