Loughgall 3 - 1 Glenavon Res

Loughgall booked their place in the Davison Group Bob Radcliffe Cup final thanks to two second goals from Dean Smith and Andy Brown.  The Villagers found it tough in the first half and fell behind to Paul Walsh’s tap in.  Dean Smith levelled matters just before the interval with an emphatic finish.
The opening stages were dominated by the home team and they had two chances in quick succession.  On 3 minutes Paul Carville saw his curling free kick fly over the crossbar and 2 minutes later Neal Gawley blazed over when well positioned.
Loughgall strike duo Lukasz Adamczyk and Dean Smith played a smart interchange after 16 minutes before Smith shot wide from the edge of the box.
On 24 minutes Gawley intercepted Willie Herron’s cross field ball and tried his luck with an ambitious effort from outside the box, ‘keeper Marc Robinson was equal to the shot.
Glenavon opened the scoring on 31 minutes when a long ball downfield was misjudged by left back Glenn Waddell, Gawley ran through on goal and layed off to Paul Walsh who had the simple task of tapping home from 6 yards.  Loughgall rallied and 2 minutes later Noel Robinson’s long throw was flicked onto Dean Smith by Alan Murphy however the forward’s volley was off target.  On 41 minutes Loughgall felt they should have had a goal when the ball was cleared off the goal line however referee Raymond Hetherington waved away protests. The equaliser came from the resultant corner when Smith volleyed home from 5 yards following Murphy’s flick on.
The away side upped their game in the second half and they had a couple of good opportunities early on.  Captain Darragh Peden flashed a header across goal but nobody was able to apply a finish and Ryan Moffatt was unlucky to see his effort, which was heading for the top corner, pushed past the post by Paul Rice.
On 56 minutes the Villagers took the lead from a Dean Smith penalty, James Montgomery caught Brian Adair on the back of the head with his elbow inside the box.  Smith stepped up and coolly converted sending ‘keeper Rice the wrong way.
Loughgall should have extended their lead in the 68 minute when Moffatt’s corner caused confusion in the home defence.  Peden headed and then blazed across goal and it took Glenavon two attempts to clear the ball to safety.
After 74 minutes substitute Marty Lavery teed up Moffatt inside the box however the winger blazed over.  2 minutes later John Douglas curled an effort just over as Glenavon Reserves pressed for an equaliser.
As the home side pushed forward Brian Adair exploited their defence in the 90th minute with a low cross that was left by Adamczyk for Brown to simply place the ball into the bottom corner from 6 yards.  In injury time Loughgall could have added to their tally when Adair’s cross was headed slightly over by Adamczyk.
