Loughgall 3 - 0 Oxford United Stars
Loughgall entertained Oxford United Stars in this 1st round game of the WKD Intermediate Cup and fully deserved to win thanks to goals from Dean Smith, Ryan Moffatt and Lukasz Adamczyk.

The opening ten minutes saw Loughgall play some excellent football with plenty of dangerous crosses being fired into the box however it was a direct attack on 8 minutes which saw Dean Smith open the scoring. Marc Robinson played the ball downfield and Smith did superbly to control his 70 yard assist before firing past ‘keeper Nash.
A flurry of activity occurred after 15 minutes when the home side really should have doubled their tally. Noel Robinson’s byline cross was pulled back into the box by Lavery, Smith headed the ball towards goal which Nash did well to tip onto the crossbar. The ball fell to Andy Brown who really should have converted, however defender David Harkin got his foot into the way and hit the ball against his own crossbar before it was cleared to safety.
On 22 minutes Lavery’s floated cross to striker Smith inadvertently fell into Ryan Moffatts path to allow the winger to calmly side-foot home from inside the box.
After 33 minutes a long ball flicked on by Brown put Lukasz Adamczyk clean through, the midfielder saw his effort well blocked by ‘keeper Nash before Lavery blasted a lay off against the upright.
In the remaining 5 minutes of the first half Oxford United Stars started to threaten with Paul Cooley powering two headers towards goal. The first effort was well saved by ‘keeper Robinson while the second effort found the net, only for the referee to correctly adjudge that Cooley pushed Glenn Waddell in the build-up.
After the interval Loughgall pushed forward to send the tie beyond doubt and on 47 minutes Dean Smith could have scored his second of the game only for ‘keeper Nash to perform an excellent save to his top right corner.
After 54 minutes Smith hit a curling shot from the edge of the box and Nash did well to push it past the post. 1 minute later Moffatt saw his right footed effort deflect off Smith before narrowly going wide. On 64 minutes a lack of communication between ‘keeper Robinson and Alan Murphy presented Tony McDaid a chance on goal. However the striker couldn’t keep his effort on target under pressure.
After 60 minutes Adamczyk played an intelligent ball to release Smith into space and the forward struck a fierce shot which was excellently tipped wide by ‘keeper Nash.
