The first half was played almost entirely in the Welders half with Loughgall dominant and Conor Mullen thought he had put Loughgall ahead only for the linesman to flag for offside.
Into the second half Paul Stretton’s fierce free kick was well saved by Welders ‘keeper Robert Robinson. The visitors took the lead with what was their first attack of the game when Craig Harris’ shot was deflected into his own goal by Mark Stewart. Loughgall took the game to the Welders and had chance after chance, and eventually Jamie Douglas got the ball from a corner and lashed in the equaliser.
Loughgall pushed for the winner but could not break through, and, in the 90th minute, the Villagers were made to pay for their missed chances when Scott McMillan headed home a Welders corner to make it 2-1 to the visitors.
