Institute boosted their promotion chances with a comfortable victory over an understrength Loughgall side at Lakeview Park.
The Villagers, missing captain Steven Ferguson, Ricky Copeland, Peter Campbell and Gareth Buchanan, never really tested Stute ‘keeper Martin Gallagher as the visitors took control early on.
Insitute started brightly with Kyle Friel-Curran a major threat on the left wing. On 25 minutes Niall Grace, with space in central midfield, found Friel-Curran’s great run and the winger made no mistake past stand-in Loughgall ‘keeper Tyler Blair.
Stute doubled their lead five minutes later when Friel-Curran’s low shot from the edge of the area crept in as Blair saw it late.
Any chances of a comeback after the break were dashed in the 52nd minute when Stephen Curry’s lofted cross was nodded home by Sammy Morrow at the back post.
The win was confirmed four minutes later when Michael McCrudden’s shot was parried by goalkeeper Blair, and Curry followed in to side foot home from close range.
Loughgall struggled to make any real impact in the game however they did hit the crossbar on 57 minutes when Marc McConnell cut inside and unleashed a well-hit shot that sailed past Institute ‘keeper Martin Gallagher and onto the bar.
