Three goals in six first-half minutes helped Warrenpoint Town run out comfortable winners at Milltown and continue their title charge.
Warrenpoint Town opened the scoring after 17 minutes when new signing Philip Donnelly’s superb reverse pass sent John McGuigan through one-on-one with Loughgall ‘keeper Gareth Buchanan. The stopper did well to deny McGuigan however ex-Loughgall forward Conor McMenamin was on hand to slot in the rebound.
Two minutes later Town doubled their advantage when, this time, McGuigan netted from a rebound after Buchanan had earlier parried Stephen Murray’s low shot.
The hosts netted their third on 23 minutes when great play saw McGuigan well-placed in Loughgall’s area. His well-hit shot was deflected in by unfortunate defender Mark Stewart past Buchanan.
McGuigan netted his second goal of the game from the penalty spot after substitute Jamie Rea fouled him inside the penalty area on 73 minutes.
There was a late consolation goal for Loughgall as substitute Jordan Baker worked a shooting opportunity to force a good save from goalkeeper Johnny Parr however Andrew Hoey was on hand to fire in from close range.
