Institute picked up all three points at Lakeview Park to keep pace with title leaders Warrenpoint Town thanks to a second half brace from Stephen Curry.
On 11 minutes the away side went agonisingly close to opening the scoring when striker Sean McCarron hit a fierce 25 yard shot that smashed off the crossbar.
In the 31st minute Loughgall forward Mark McConnell collected a loose ball on the edge of the Stute box and setup Warner Mullen who shot wide when he should have done better.
On the the stroke of half-time Institute attacker Michael McCrudden will be disappointed he failed to score when Loughgall ‘keeper Gareth Buchanan was caught out of his goal. Buchanan failed to deal with Curry’s cross and Jamie McIntyre squared for McCrudden, who just had to beat defender Ricky Copeland on the goal line, however he side-footed past the post.
The visitors took the lead on 51 minutes when a great move culminated in Curry firing home at the back post past Buchanan.
Loughgall equalised in the 66th minute when Copeland rose highest to head home substitute Jack Uprichard’s curling corner from close range.
Stute regained the lead five minutes later when Curry ran unchallenged for 15 yards before rifling a low drive into the bottom corner past goalkeeper Buchanan.
Curry almost completed his hat-trick in the final ten minutes however he couldn’t keep his low shot on target when well placed.
Loughgall pressed forward strongly in the frantic closing stages; Peter Campbell glanced the crossbar with a cross before Andy Devlin forced an excellent low save from ‘keeper Marty Gallagher.
In injury time the Villagers were reduced to ten men as centre-back Chris Elliott was shown a straight red card for tripping Stute substitute Ryan Doherty 35 yards from goal which referee Glenn Taylor deemed it to be a clear goalscoring opportunity.
