Loughgall bounced back from their opening day league defeat with a stunning eight-goal victory over Tobermore United in the 1st round of the Wasp Solutions League Cup.
The hosts got off to the worst possible start when, after three minutes, Mark Harkness sprang the offside trap before striking a great effort inside the far post from 15 yards.
Loughgall levelled seven minutes later when Ryan Moffatt’s curling ball towards the back post was nodded home by Stephen O’Neill from close range.
And Moffatt put his side ahead in the 28th minute when he raced in from the right flank before seeing his low strike deflected inside the near post.
Striker O’Neill grabbed his second four minutes after the break when he was on hand to head home Daniel Burns’ precise cross.
On 51 minutes Ryan Moffatt’s low cross was tapped home by James Costello, and then three minutes later Daniel Burns raced through to sidefoot home.
In the 58th minute, winger Burns turned provider when he embarked on an exciting run down the left wing before setting-up O’Neill to mark his hat-trick in style when he blasted into the top corner from 25 yards.
United pulled a goal back on 69 minutes when Colin Donaldson netted from close range.
But Loughgall continued the assault and scored twice in the final five minutes. Firstly substitute Anto Burns netted with a smart finish inside the front post, before Mark Carson slid in at the back post to convert Chris Kingsberry’s whipped cross.
