Loughgall came home with 3 points after a superb win away to league leader’s Carrick Rangers, Ryan Moffett who was making his 1st appearance in his 2nd spell at our club and James Costello netted the all important goals. It was scoreless in the 1st half as two even team’s cancelled each other out, with a couple of snapshots by Ben Roy the best Carrick could offer but nothing to trouble Wayne Drummond. Strong winds and driving rain made it difficult for both teams to gain control of the game.
Half-Time: Carrick Rangers 0-0 Loughgall
Loughgall took the lead in the 56min through a header from the Ryan Moffett, after the excellent Mark Carson sent James Costello away up the line, Costello who caused Carrick problems throughout created space for himself then delivered a lovely chipped cross for the uncoming Moffett to head home. Costello again was in the action a few min later after Loughgall hit Carrick on the break with a great run and pass by Daniel Ryan, but Costello was unable to beat Steele who made a good save. After a spell of dominance by Loughgall, Carrick came back strong and it took some great defending by Loughgall to stay in the lead, Jeff Brady in particular making a great block on line from an Aidan O’Kane shot and also Drummond made a couple of superb saves. Loughgall came back again and Costello had another chance to put game beyond doubt but was foiled by Steele.
Costello eventually got the goal his performance deserved after a clever reverse through ball by Jack McCreanor who had a great game in centre midfield, Costello rounded Steele and slotted home to give Loughgall a 2-0 lead.
Carrick scored deep into injury time with the last kick of the game after Ricky Gibson slotted home with the last kick of the game, it took the gloss off the scoreline but it was 3 points that the villagers fully deserved after a super shift from every player to give Brian Adair his 1st win in charge.
