Early goals from goalkeeper Chris Keenan and Robbie White provided Larne with a deserved victory over Loughgall. As a result of the home side missing three penalties already this season ‘keeper Keenan stepped up to convert from the penalty spot after 8 minutes when Gavin Fox was adjudged to have handled Stuart King’s effort.
Three minutes later Scott Irvine floated a perfect cross to allow forward White to nod home at the back post beyond ‘keeper Jamie McArdle. Larne could have extended their lead on the stroke of half-time when Josh McAlister headed against the post from close range.
Loughgall improved after the break but Graham McConnell’s men were comfortable in seeing out the victory. Loughgall came closest to scoring when Wes Boyle fired wide after Steven Ferguson’s impressive run in the 68th minute. Five minutes later Keenan produced an excellent save to deny Aaron Haire after he skilfully evaded Stuart Scott before firing a shot on target.
