Loughgall continued their recent good form earning an important point at home to Limavady United who sit below them in the Belfast Telegraph Championship 1 table.
The visitors raced into the lead after only two minutes when Ricky Copeland’s unfortunate slip on a tricky surface allowed Cathair Friel to race through and finish well past ‘keeper Gareth Buchanan.
Loughgall created a great chance to restore parity in the 15th minute when Dale Malone fed striker Dale Noble who hit a vicious ball across the 6 yard box just out of reach of Jeff Brady. United had goalkeeper Jonathan Doey to thank for a wonderful double save to deny Josh Finlay and Brady on 32 minutes.
The Villagers levelled one minute before the break when Steven Ferguson’s through ball released Brady who confidently finished beyond Doey.
Ryan Mullan headed over for the visitors when he should have done better six minutes into the second half. And Loughgall came close again one minute later when Doey was able to save from Brady’s back post header.
The home side missed a massive opportunity to take all three points when Dale Malone blasted a spot-kick wide after Mark Carson was upended in the penalty area.
