Loughgall extended their unbeaten run to four games, earning a third clean sheet in those fixtures, with a goalless draw that ended Carrick Rangers fight for second place.
With Ricky Copeland, Wes Boyle and Dale Malone missing, boss Colin Malone brought in Gavin Fox, Mark Carson and Niall Lavery thus switching to a 5-4-1 formation that worked extremely well diminishing Rangers’ goal threat whilst also making the Villagers look dangerous on the counter.
Jeff Brady came close for the visitors after 22 minutes when his 25 yard effort sailed just over the crossbar. Carrick threatened on the half hour when Lee Colligan did well to set-up Jonny Addis however the forward pulled his close-range effort wide of the mark.
Rangers came closest to scoring in a game of few chances nine minutes into the second period when Addis hit a thunderous drive from the edge of the penalty area that crashed off the post.
