After two successive victories Loughgall were dealt a harsh lesson as Limavady United put five goals past the Villagers.
After strong early pressure Limavady opened the scoring on 15 minutes when Ryan Mullan netted at the second attempt following Ryan Morrison’s corner delivery.
The lead was doubled on 32 minutes when Ruari McClean was allowed space in the Loughgall penalty area to head home Trevor Parkhill’s pinpoint cross from the left flank.
The tie was effectively over three minutes later when Parkhill robbed Mark Carson of the ball on the byline before coming inside the penalty area to find a shooting opportunity to fire home.
Any chance of a second half revival was quashed with another Limavady goal on 48 minutes when William Doran’s cross, which was initially mis-hit by Parkhill, was finished by Mullan from close-range.
The fifth goal came in the 64th minute when Gareth McConaghie well-hit free-kick caught a slight deflection to nestle in the bottom corner.
Loughgall netted two consolation goals in the last 11 minutes, firstly Johnny Kernaghan cut inside onto his favoured left foot before curling the ball past Lawrence McCormick in the home goals. Then a great attacking move culminated with Dale Malone setting up Wesley Boyle to fire home a volley inside the penalty area.
