Bangor 2 – 2 Loughgall

A last minute volley from Ben Browne was enough to snatch a point for the Seasiders and frustrate Loughgall who were so close to securing their first league win in a month.

Boss Colin Malone made two changes from the side that thrashed Chimney Corner 5 – 0 last week with Davy Hawthorne and Stephen Doyle restored to the starting line-up in place of Alain Emerson and Mark Teggart.

A lively start saw chances for both teams, with the nippy Marty Verner catching the eye for the visitors with a looping cross from the right on four minutes but Stephen Doyle just failed to get his head to the ball at the far post.

On 13 minutes Verner was again the architect as he slipped the ball through from the left across the area to beat the Bangor defence, and Doyle was on the spot to slot home from close range.

Bangor hit back just two minutes later when a long clearance from home keeper Paul Cairnduff wasn’t cleared and striker Dwaine Beattie latched onto it to nod the ball over Villagers’ keeper Marc Robinson from six yards.

Beattie should have scored again on the half hour after Robinson parried a rasping Ben Browne shot from the edge of the box, but he blasted the ball over the crossbar from point blank range.

Loughgall grabbed the lead on 37 minutes after the initial attempt from John Guy’s header was superbly pushed around the post by ‘keeper Paul Cairnduff. From the result corner Guy headed Dale Malone’s swerving corner from the left inside the near post.

There was plenty of effort in the second half and the visitors missed a golden chance to clinch the points on 63 minutes when a superb three man move up the right saw the ball go from Doyle to Davy Hawthorne and on to speedy right back Greg Hall who whipped the ball low along the Bangor goal line, but there was no-one to apply the finishing touch.

Bangor grabbed a last ditch equaliser in the 90th minute when substitute Garth Scates free kick from 25 yards out was cleared to the edge of the penalty area where Ben Browne smashed the ball low through the crowded area past Marc Robinson on his line.
