Loughgall 11 – 1 Killymoon Rangers

Loughgall progressed in the Bob Radcliffe Cup with a heavy win at home over Championship 2 outfit Killymoon Rangers; whose task was made even more difficult when Jason Ferry saw red after only 28 minutes for a lunging challenge.

Loughgall made the perfect start when Stephen Doyle slotted home from the penalty spot in the second minute. The lead lasted only 14 minutes as William Montgomery latched onto a long diagonal pass and rifled the ball home at the near post.

The Villagers regained their advantage when they scored two goals in quick succession; firstly Adam Pedlow raced through the defence and hit a great low shot inside the post. Then Teggart was played in by Paul Keenan and the winger finished with great composure for his first goal of the season.

Killymoon’s afternoon was about to get even worse in the 28th minute when they were reduced to ten men as right-back Jason Ferry performed a lunging tackle that, whilst it won the ball, referee Damien Basketfield deemed as dangerous play.

Unsurprisingly they conceded a further two times before the interval when Doyle completed a first-half hat-trick as he scored another penalty before finding the top corner with a fine strike from 20 yards.

There was no let-up from the hosts in the second period when they netted three goals before the hour mark. Pedlow tapped home from close range on 50 minutes before, four minutes later, a strong run and finish from forward Keenan saw the ball nestle in the bottom corner. And then Dale Malone played a smart pass to Marty Verner who skillfully rounded ‘keeper Gareth McElhatton and sidefooted into an empty net.

Verner even missed from the penalty spot in the 63rd minute – Loughgall’s third spot kick of the game – before Keenan tapped in for his brace on 70 minutes. The scoring was completed by Davy Hawthorne’s well-driven shot from inside the penalty area on 73 minutes and Malone’s confident finish four minutes later.
