Loughgall and Larne shared the spoils in an entertaining draw at Lakeview Park, with Colin Malone probably the more disappointed of both managers after his side creating a number of clear-cut chances over the course of the game.
Loughgall controlled most of the first half however couldn’t find an opener for their efforts with Mark Teggart going close on a number of occasions.
And just eight minutes after the break they were punished when Sencer Yilmaz flicked a long throw-in beyond ‘keeper Marc Robinson into the net.
However the lead was shortlived as the Villagers levelled within three minutes when Greg Hall and Davy Hawthorne combined to set-up Adam Pedlow to fire into the top corner from inside the penalty area.
On 75 minutes Marty Verner latched onto Jeff Brady’s long pass but could only strike wide from a difficult angle. Forward Verner was again involved five minutes later when he connected with Paul Keenan and Pedlow on the edge of the penalty area however the latter didn’t trouble ‘keeper Brendan Quinn with a weak effort.
Any chance Larne had of snatching a win were over when goalscorer Sencer Yilmaz was dismissed with 11 minutes remaining for needlessly raised his hands after a strong challenge.
Loughgall’s best chance to grab all three points came in injury time but they were denied as Robbie White was positioned superbly to clear Chris Hull’s header off the goalline after Pedlow’s corner delivery.
