Loughgall climbed up to sixth place in the Ladbrokes.com Championship 1 table with a hard-fought 2 – 1 win over Ards at Dixon Park.
Ards had a number of good chances throughout the first period and went close twice when Gareth Corey was allowed too much room on the right wing. First Corey forced a strong parry from goalkeeper Marc Robinson with a superb drive before dragging an effort wide when well placed.
Loughgall opened the scoring four minutes before the interval with a great attacking move that started when Johnny Kernaghan slipped the ball through to Martin Murray on the right flank. Striker Murray delivered a whipped cross to the front post for Barry Bloomer to direct his header beyond ‘keeper Aaron Kerr.
The Villagers doubled their lead shortly into the second period as Paul Carville played a pass to Marty Verner who, with plenty of time, hit an unstoppable drive that ‘keeper Kerr couldn’t handle as he palmed it into the top corner.
The hosts pulled a goal back on 58 minutes when Gareth Corey crossed to the buy sertraline in malaysia back post and Stephen Doyle was on hand to head home a well-worked attack.
Loughgall came close to regaining their two-goal advantage on 72 minutes however we denied when ‘keeper Kerr made a superb double save to deny Bloomer.
Ards’ best effort to level the scoreline came with 7 minutes remaining when Jimmy McIlhagga steadied himself with the ball 25 yards from goal before unleashing a tremendous drive which ‘keeper Robinson excellently tipped over.
