Lower Maze 2 – 3 Loughgall

Loughgall had Paul McDowell to thank for his last minute penalty winner that saw off a battling Lower Maze side in the WKD Core Intermediate Cup 1st round.  The Mid-Ulster Intermediate A side had recovered from a two-goal deficit to push the Villagers all the way.

Loughgall took the lead 14 minutes into an extremely physical first period when Davy Hawthorne’s dribbling ability saw him find space inside the host’s penalty area before firing into the bottom corner for a fine individual goal.

Two minutes later Hawthorne was denied by an excellent diving save by Neil Smith to push his 20-yard effort past the post. From the resultant corner the visitors doubled their advantage when referee Aiden Smith adjudged that Dean Smith’s effort had crossed the line before ‘keeper Smith managed to get a touch on it to push it clear.

On 20 minutes Lower Maze grabbed a goal back when Alistair Rodgers, with a free header, easily directed the ball from a long free kick beyond ‘keeper Marc Robinson.

In first half injury time striker Paul McDowell excellently set-up Lavery to smash a great half-volley towards the top corner only for Smith to frustrate the winger with a great parry.

Nine minutes into the second half Lower Maze displayed their threat when a quick break allowed Sammy Davidson through on goal and he will be disappointed not to score as ‘keeper Robinson excellently saved low to his left.

With 20 minutes order tramadol from canada remaining the hosts levelled following Aaron McKeague’s corner delivery, which was eventually bundled home by Rodgers after Kingsberry had initially cleared off the line.

Loughgall were dealt a further blow in the final few minutes as they had to play with ten men when Andy Smith, who was only on as a substitute for 16 minutes, had to leave the action after suffering a groin injury and all three substitutions were already made.

Then two minutes into injury time Ronan Gault fouled Hawthorne inside the penalty area and McDowell stepped up to blast home from 12 yards to secure the win.
