Loughgall had to recover from a goal down to see off a spirited challenge from Bourneview in the Mid-Ulster Cup.
The Villagers made seven changes from last Saturday’s Co-operative Insurance Cup loss at Crusaders with Alan Murphy, Stephen McCain, Peter McNeill, David McCullough, Ashley Gregg, Glen Clarke and Marty Lavery all coming into the side.
The Mid-Ulster Intermediate A side took the lead 8 minutes after the break when Aaron Gallagher converted a cross beyond goalkeeper Marc Robinson. And three minutes later they should have extended their lead when forward Mark Boyce was released clear on goal, he checked back onto his right foot and fired wide under pressure.
Loughgall grabbed an equaliser on 64 minutes amid a goalmouth scramble as ‘keeper Andrew Neill dropped Andy Smith’s free kick and the ball was eventually forced in by Glen Clarke.
Substitute Chris Kingsberry netted his first goal in Loughgall colours in the 72nd minute when he cut inside from the left flank and fired low into the corner of the net.
With six minutes remaining the hosts made sure of victory when Glen Clarke headed Ashley Gregg’s in-swinging corner home for his second goal of the game.
