Loughgall United enjoyed a penalty shoot-out win over Rectory Rangers in the first round of this seasons Ivan Marshall Cup.
After a few chances going begging United broke the deadlock when Aaron Willis scored with a smart finish from close range. Rectory had a couple of efforts from distance which didn’t trouble the home ‘keeper and it remained 1-0 at the break.
Loughgall continued to press, wasting chance after chance and paid the ultimate price for not taking those chances when Rectory equalised from a long throw in with a flick on from the near post which evaded everyone and ended up in the back of the net.
As the game entered extra time, both teams squandered good chances to win it in extra time but the final buy generic prilosec online whistle came and the game entered a penalty shoot out. Rectory blazed over before Andrew Weir put Loughgall 2-1 up. Mark Robinson saved Rectory’s next effort which left Jack Irwin to seal the victory at 3-1.
